Birth Anniversary: ​​Google pays tribute to music maestro Bhupen Hazarika with a doodle

 


Today is the 96th birth anniversary of legendary singer, composer and Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika, who ruled the hearts of crores of people with his melodious voice. Hazarika was a noted Assamese-Indian singer. On the other hand, Google has paid tribute to Hazarika ji with a special doodle on the occasion of her birth anniversary. Bhupen Hazarika was such a prolific artist that he himself wrote, composed and sung his own songs. Hazarika worked in many genres including song-poem writing, singing, filmmaking and journalism.


First song written at the age of 10

Let us tell you that Bharat Ratna Bhupen Hazarika was born on this day on 8 September 1926 in Northeast India. His home state is in Assam. His father's name was Neelkant Hazarika and mother's name was Shantipriya Hazarika. Bhupen was the eldest of seven brothers and three sisters. Bhupen Hazarika started writing and singing songs from an early age and at the age of 10, he wrote his first song. By the age of 12, Hazarika wrote and recorded songs for two films. Hazarika's musical talent caught the attention of renowned Assamese lyricist, Jyotiprasad Agarwal and filmmaker Bishnu Prasad Rabha. Both were the heads of the rich cultural history of Assam.



Family left due to lack of money

After completing his early education from Guwahati, Hazarika joined Banaras Hindu University for his graduation and after graduating with honors in 1944, he earned his master's degree in 1946. After this he completed his PhD in Mass Communication from Columbia University. Has received the title of. After completing his studies, he returned to India to continue working on songs and films that popularized Assamese culture nationally and globally. Then Bhupen Hazarika married Priyam Patel in 1950 in New York. But due to his financial constraints, he could not stay with his family for long. After that he decided to dedicate his life to the world of music.


At the age of 40, the heart was giving the imagination of 17 years


He met Kalpana Lajmi on the sets of the Hindi film 'Aarop' (1974). It is said that on seeing Kalpana, Bhupen gave his heart to her. Whereas at that time Kalpana Lajmi's age must have been around 17 years and Bhupen was over 40. A song in this film 'Nain Mein Darpan Hai, Darpan Hai Koi Dekhoon Jise Subho Sham' was very popular. Bhupen's most talked about film was 'Rudali' by Kalpana Lajmi. All its songs became famous.


Its very popular song 'Dil Hum Hum Kare' was a Hindi translation of Bhupen's Assamese song 'Buku Hum Hum Kare'. Bhupen Hazarika has written about a thousand songs and 15 books in his life. Bhupen Hazarika's literary form brings a different sweetness to his music. His journey in Hindi films started from 1974. Bhupen Hazarika breathed his last on 5 November 2011.

For his outstanding contribution to films, he was awarded the National Film Award in 1975, the Dadasaheb Phalke Award in 1992, the 'Assam Ratna' in 2009 and the Padma Bhushan in 2011. In the year 2019, he was awarded the country's highest honor 'Bharat Ratna'.
