WHO issued an alert after the death of 66 children
The World Health Organization (WHO) has issued an alert on four cough and cold syrups in India. It is being told that 66 children died in The Gambia after drinking these cough syrups. It causes severe damage to the kidney. The Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) has started its investigation regarding these cough syrups. WHO said, the four drugs are cough and cold syrups manufactured by Maiden Pharmaceuticals Ltd in India. WHO is conducting further investigation with the company and regulatory authorities in India. A source said, the CDSCO has initiated a probe into the matter and ordered a detailed investigation against the cough and cold syrups produced and exported by Maiden Pharmaceuticals Ltd to The Gambia . According to the source, the global health body has been requested to share the report on establishing the cause of death along with the medical products involved with the CDSCO at the earliest.
