Shankaracharya Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati became Brahman, took his last breath at Paramhansi Ganga Ashram

 


Jagadguru Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati, astrologer and Shankaracharya of Dwarka Sharda Peeth, passed away on Sunday. He breathed his last at the age of 99 at Paramhansi Ganga Ashram at Jhoteshwar, Narsinghpur. He was unwell for a long time. It is said that he died of cardiac arrest. Due to his death, a wave of mourning spread among the devotees and the saint community. His disciple Brahmavidyananda told that he would be given samadhi in the ashram itself at 5 pm on Monday.

Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati, who emerged as a revolutionary monk at the age of 19, emerged as a revolutionary monk at the age of just 19. He struggled for life for the protection of Sanatan Dharma. Swamiji also went to jail in the freedom struggle. He also fought a long legal battle for the construction of Shri Ram Janmabhoomi temple. Recently, his 99th birthday was celebrated on the day of Hariyali Teej. Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati was the Shankaracharya of two mathas (Dwarka and Jyotirmath).

Born in village Dighori of Seoni district

Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati was born on 02 September 1924 in village Dighori of Seoni district of Madhya Pradesh. His father's name was Dhanpati Upadhyay and mother's name was Girija Devi. His parents named him Pothiram Upadhyay. At the age of nine, he left home and started religious pilgrimages. During this he reached Kashi and here he learned the Vedas and scriptures from Brahmalin Swami Karpatri Maharaj. During that time the fight to free India from the British was going on.

He got the title of Shankaracharya in 1981, went to jail

he also participated in the Quit India Movement of 1942. At the age of just 19, he became famous as a revolutionary monk. During this time he spent 9 months in Varanasi jail and 6 months in Madhya Pradesh jail. He was also the president of the Ramrajya Parishad, the political party of Karpatri Maharaj. He was made a Dandi Sanyasi in the year 1950 and got the title of Shankaracharya in 1981. In 1950, Sharda Peeth took initiation from Shankaracharya Swami Brahmanand Saraswati and came to be known as Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati.


Many leaders including former Chief Minister Digvijay Singh were his followers. Swami Swaroopanand Saraswati was also known for his impeccable speech. The news of his death also caused grief in the Sant Samaj. Devotees and public representatives have expressed grief over his death. On the death of Shankaracharya Swaroopanand Saraswati, many leaders including Prime Minister Narendra Modi, UP Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, BJP State President VD Sharma have expressed grief over his death.
