Today is a historic day for the country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi handed over the first indigenous aircraft carrier 'INS Vikrant' to the Indian Navy today. The unique feature of INS Vikrant is that it is an indigenous warship. The special thing is that with this achievement, India has now joined the elite group of countries that are capable of making aircraft careers. At present, the list of these countries includes the names of America, Russia, France, the United Kingdom, and China. Not only this, it will be the 7th biggest career in the world.

On this occasion, the PM said, today on the historic date of September 2, 2022, another task that changed history happened. Today India has taken off a trace of slavery, a burden of slavery. Indian Navy has got a new flag from today. Till now the identity of slavery remained on the flag of the Indian Navy. But from today onwards, inspired by Chhatrapati Shivaji, the new Navy flag will fly in the sea and in the sky.

Actually aircraft carrier means a floating air force station in the sea. From where fighter jets, missiles, and drones can fly and rescue the enemy's sixes. They can rain showers on water, land, and the sky. You will be surprised to know that IAC Vikrant is included in the ten most powerful aircraft carrier warships in the world. Let us tell you that the construction of INS Vikrant started in 2009. Now after 13 years this Navy has got it. Along with this, PM Modi also unveiled the new Ensign of the Navy. The Navy's new Ensign is a takeaway from the colonial past and is equipped with the Indian Maritime Heritage.

Features of INS Vikrant

INS Vikrant Aircraft Carrier is an air force station floating above the sea from where fighter jets, missiles, and drones can be used to destroy the nefarious designs of enemies. 32 Barak-8 missiles can be fired from Vikrant. Weighing over 44,570 tonnes, the warship is capable of accommodating 30 fighter jets and is equipped with air-to-air missiles beyond visual range and anti-ship missiles beyond guided bombs and rockets. It is also equipped with modern launch and recovery systems to handle various aircraft such as Luna Landing System for MiG-29 and DAPS Landing System for Sea Harrier. Its maximum speed is 2469 km per hour.

Power to power a small town

The aircraft carrier's 2,300 compartments have room for 1,700 sailors, as well as special cabins for women officers, and is capable of generating enough electricity to power a small town. According to the army, food for 4800 people can be prepared in a day in Vikrant's kitchen and 10,000 Rotis can be baked in a day.

16 bed hospital at IAC Vikrant

Apart from this, there is a 16-bed hospital inside IAC Vikrant. There are two operation theatres. Primary Medical Complex. It has 40 compartments, which are spread throughout the ship. CT scan, laboratory, ultrasonography, and X-ray facilities are also available. Apart from this, there are also two dental chairs and treatment facilities. Our team consists of 5 Medical Officers and 16 Paramedics.

76% use of indigenous things

The Navy has informed that 76 percent indigenous things have been used in its construction. 2 thousand CSL personnel and indirectly 13 thousand other people were also involved in preparing INS Vikrant for 20 thousand crore rupees. Flight trials of INS Vikrant will begin by November and the carrier will be fully ready for operations by mid-2023.
