why moharram is celebrated although the reason behind it is of grief and sorrow

Muharram is considered the holiest month of the Muslim community. This is the first month of the Islamic calendar. The new year of Islam begins from this month itself. Muharram is also very special for Muslims because Hazrat Imam Hussain was martyred on the 10th of this month. Hazrat Imam Hussain was the younger grandson of the founder of Islam, Hazrat Muhammad. On the 10th of the month of Muharram, Hazrat Imam Hussain and 72 of his companions had martyrdom in Karbala. Hazrat Imam Hussain fought against oppression. The 10th of the month of Muharram is called Roz-e-Ashura. Tazia and processions are taken out on this day in memory of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain.

The tradition of taking out Tazia is seen only among Shia Muslims. On the other hand, the people of the Sunni community do not do Tajiyadari. According to Shia Ulema, keeping Tazia starts from the first date of the moon rise of Muharram, and on the 10th of Muharram, it is celebrated in Karbala. is buried. During this, people celebrate mourning by wearing black clothes. During the procession, people chant 'Ya Hussain, Hum Na Huye' while performing tricks.

History of Muharram

The battle of Karbala took place in Tarikh-e-Islam about 1400 years ago. It is said that a ruler named Muawiya reigned in the 'Sham', located at some distance from the holy Medina of Islam. After his death, his heir Yazid ascended the throne of Sham. Yazid was a very cruel and demerit ruler. Yazid wanted that his rulership should be declared by Imam Hussain, the grandson of Muhammad. Due to this his fame will increase even more. But Imam Hussain flatly refused to accept Yazid as the ruler.

Yazid was exasperated by this. Simultaneously, Imam Hussain also decided that he would leave Medina, the city of his maternal grandfather Muhammad so that peace could prevail there. In this way, Imam Hussein was going to Iraq with his family and some loved ones. But near Karbala, Yazid's army surrounded them. Yazid put some conditions on him that Imam Hussain did not accept. Then Yazid asked them to fight.

During this time Imam Hussain decided to stay on the banks of the river Furat and stayed there with the people of his convoy by putting up a tent. But the Yazid army prevented him from staying there. Not only this, but he also refused to take the water of the river Furat. Imam Hussain did not want war. Because there were only 72 people in his convoy. In this, his six-month-old son, wife, Sisters, and daughters and their followers were involved. It was the month of Muharram and summer days were going on. By seven Muharram, all the food and water that Imam Hussain had with him was exhausted. All the members of his convoy started suffering from hunger and thirst. Even then Imam Hussain tried his best to avert the war, showing patience. But Yazid's army was determined to fight.

Then all the members of Imam Hussain's convoy fought one by one and were killed by Yazid's army. Finally, after the Asr (afternoon) prayer, Imam Hussain also went to fight and he too was killed. In this battle, only one of his sons, Zainulaabedin, survived because he was ill. Later on, the generation of Mohammad Saheb came from him. Muharram is celebrated in the memory of the martyrdom of Imam Hussain.
