Painful: Teacher brutally thrashed for touching pot of Dalit student, death due to vein rupture

A heart-wrenching incident has come to light in the Jalore district of Rajasthan. In the Surana village of Sayla police station area here, when a Dalit student touched a pot of water in the school, the teacher beat him so much that he died. The child was undergoing treatment in Ahmedabad for the last 24 days. At present, the police have arrested the teacher by registering a case under the SC-ST Act.

Only teachers used to drink water from the pot

The child's father, Devaram, told that his nine-year-old son Indra Meghwal studied in the third grade at Saraswati Vidya Mandir in Surana village. He went to school on 20th July as usual. At around 10:30 in the morning, when he felt thirsty, he drank water from the pot kept in the school. He did not know that this matki was kept for the teacher of the school, Chhail Singh. After this, Chail Singh called Indra and beat him fiercely, causing internal injuries to his right eye and ear.

The father alleges that Chail Singh also used casteist words. At first, it seemed that Indra Meghwal had suffered a minor injury, but it was not so. After the beating, Indra's health started deteriorating, so he was taken to Jalore District Hospital. Was referred from Jalore to Udaipur on the same day. Here too his health did not improve, so after a few days, he was taken to Ahmedabad. He died during treatment here on Saturday morning at around 11 am. At the same time, after the death of the child, the police hurriedly registered a case under the SC-ST Act and started interrogation by taking teacher Chhail Singh into custody on Saturday evening. A preliminary investigation has revealed that the ear vein of the child had burst due to the beating.

CM Gehlot expressed grief

In this case, the BJP has become an attacker accusing the Gehlot government of cultivating casteism. Expressing grief over the death of the student, Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has said that Rs 5 lakh compensation will be given to the victim's family. The Chief Minister tweeted that it has been taken under the Case Officer Scheme for speedy investigation of the matter. After this matter, on behalf of the Chief Block Education Officer, a committee has been formed and the investigation has been handed over to the Panchayat's Elementary Education Officer Ashok Kumar Dave and Pratapram. After getting information about the incident, SP Harshvardhan Agarwal and CO Himmat Singh reached the child's house. Police have handed over the investigation of the case to Jalore CO Himmat Singh Charan. Jalore SP Harshvardhan Agarwal said that the matter of drinking water from the pot has not been confirmed yet.

MP and State General Secretary Diya Kumari and Deputy Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathod have described the death of a Dalit student as a punishment for drinking water from a pot as an incident of shame to humanity. Along with this, both have held the Chief Minister responsible for the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. In this matter, MP Diya Kumari tweeted late at night and wrote that the temple of education has become the center of caste discrimination and atrocities in the Congress state. Diya Kumari also asked the Chief Minister for how long such incidents, which shame humanity, would keep happening.

Deputy Leader of Opposition Rajendra Rathod also targeted the state government in a tweet late at night in this matter. Rathod wrote that the incident of the death of a student by the teacher in the holy courtyard of Maa Saraswati is unfortunate and condemnable. In the state, sometimes the girl's raped in the school, and sometimes the student's assault is a question mark on the safety of the students. Rathod also demanded strict action against the concerned teacher.
