Neeraj Chopra created history again - Lausanne Diamond League

Tokyo Olympic gold medalist Neeraj Chopra achieved another golden success with the best throw of 89.08m at the Lausanne Diamond League Meet on Friday. Chopra became the first Indian to win the coveted Diamond League meeting title with the victory in Lausanne. With this win, Neeraj has qualified for the Diamond League Final, which will be held on 7 and 8 September in Zurich, Switzerland. He has now also qualified for the 2023 World Championships.

Neeraj threw 89.08m in his first attempt and 85.18m in his second attempt. He missed the third attempt and fouled on the fourth attempt. He then dropped his fifth attempt and then threw a brilliant 80.04m in his sixth and final attempt. Czech Republic's Jakob Wallez finished second with a throw of 85.88m, while American Curtis Thompson took third place with a throw of 83.72m.

Earlier in July, star Indian javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra was ruled out of the Commonwealth Games. Neeraj suffered a groin injury in the final of the World Athletics Championships in Oregon, where he won silver, ending India's 19-year-long wait for a medal in the tournament.
