Engineers are the pivot of the country's development

Engineering is now a wide field. Engineering studies are also conducted in important subjects across the country. Engineer's Day is celebrated every year on 15 September in India. Its main objective is to motivate the students of the country to come in this field. India today is the world's leading country in the field of engineering and IT. In the true sense, engineers are the pivot of the country's development. In fact, from disaster management to construction, no work can be completed without engineers. After independence, talented engineers have made remarkable contribution in the construction and development of New India. About engineering, the famous American engineer Henry Petrosky said that science means knowing while engineering means doing or doing.

Engineer's Day is celebrated on the birthday of the great engineer of India and Bharat Ratna Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya. It is indeed Engineers Resolution Day. The extraordinary contribution of Mokshagundam Visvesvaraya in the field of engineering is unforgettable. He is called the father of Indian civil engineering and Vishwakarma of modern India. Visvesvaraya, born on 15 September 1860 in Kolar district of Mysore, Karnataka, has been a major contributor to the success of many dams and bridges built across the country. He has built many important dams like Krishnaraj Sagar Dam in Mysore, dam in Khadakwasla Reservoir in Pune, Tigra Dam in Gwalior etc. The entire credit for building the city of Hyderabad also goes to Visvesvaraya, who is called the 'Father of Modern Mysore State'.

The nation today feels proud because of the many projects of Visvesvaraya. He designed a flood protection system, after which he became famous throughout the country. He played a very important role in developing a system for the protection of Visakhapatnam port from sea erosion. Apart from making arrangements for supplying water from natural water sources to every household, proper arrangement of drains and drains for the removal of dirty water is also the gift of Visvesvaraya. He played a major role in the adoption of the plan for the construction of a road between Tirumala and Tirupati. In 1955 he was awarded the highest Indian honor 'Bharat Ratna'. In view of Visvesvaraya's remarkable contribution in the field of engineering, his date of birth in the year 1968 was declared 'Engineer's Day' by the Government of India.

After doing his early studies in Mysore, Visvesvaraya passed the BA examination from the Central College of Madras University in 1881. After that he got help from the Government of Mysore and he enrolled for engineering in Science College, Poona. LCE of 1883 and FCE He secured first position in the examination and seeing his merit, the Bombay government appointed him as an assistant engineer in Nashik. After that as an engineer, he accomplished many wonderful works.

Visvesvaraya was an idealist and a disciplined man. Who used to do all his work with perfection. Even at the age of 92, he could walk without any support. Before giving the speech, he himself wrote it and then rehearsed it several times. With his ability, he proved his ability and talent even in front of big British engineers. In 1905, he was awarded the 'Commander of the Order of the Indian Empire' by the British Government. Visvesvaraya was the 19th Diwan of Mysore from the year 1912 to 1918.

In 1903, Visvesvaraya built a dam in Pune's Khadakwasla reservoir, which had steel gates that could withstand the pressure of floods and did not cause any damage to the dam. After the success of that dam, he also built Tigra Dam in Gwalior. In 1932, he was the Chief Engineer in the construction project of Krishna Raj Sagar Dam on river Kaveri. Although the construction of that dam was a very difficult task because at that time there was no cement production in the country, but Visvesvaraya, a wealthy man of strong will, along with engineers, prepared a much stronger 'mortar' than cement and made the dam in which The rivers Kaveri, Hemavati and Lakshmana meet each other. At that time this dam was called the largest dam in Asia. Visvesvaraya died on 14 April 1962 at the age of 101 in Bangalore.
