Prabhas' uncle, famous actor Krishnam Raju passes away, wave of mourning in South Film Industry

 


Veteran actor of South films and former Union Minister U.V. Krishnam Raju passed away on Sunday. He has been called Rebel Star in Telugu cinemaHe joined the Bharatiya Janata Party in the nineties. He was the Minister of State for External Affairs in the Atal Bihari Vajpayee government. 

His last rites will be held in Hyderabad on Monday afternoon. 83-year-old Krishnam Raju breathed his last at AIG Hospital in Hyderabad on Sunday. Earlier on Saturday night, his health had deteriorated. Thereafter he was admitted to the hospital. Krishnam Raju was the uncle of actor Prabhas. Krishnam Raju was last seen in the film Radhe Shyam.

Film career started with Chilaka Gorinka

Krishnam Raju acted in films ranging from social, family, romantic, thriller films to historical and mythological films. Talking about successful films, Amara Deepam, Sita Ramulu, Katkatala Rudraiya are included in the list. Besides being a two-time Nandi Award winner of the Andhra Pradesh government, Krishnam Raju won the Filmfare Best Actor Award for Tandra Paprayudu in 1986. He was awarded the Filmfare South Lifetime Achievement Award in 2006. Born on 20 January 1940 in West Godavari district, Krishnam Raju made his film debut in 1966 with Chilaka Gorinka. In short, He also portrayed the anti-hero in some films. 

Krishnam Raju became a household name in Telugu households with films like Bhakta Kannappa and Tandra Paprayudu. He also produced several films under his Gopi Krishna Movies banner. In his later years.

Tried his hand in politics too

Krishnam Raju made a career in films as well as politics. He contested from Narasapuram in 1991 as a Congress candidate. After 8 years, in the 1999 elections, he won from the same seat as a BJP candidate. He was the first actor to serve as a Union Minister in the cabinet of former Prime Minister of India Atal Bihari Vajpayee.
