Cyrus Mistry: The last rites of Cyrus Mistry took place in Mumbai with Parsi customs

 


The last rites of former Tata Sons chairman Cyrus Mistry were performed as per Parsi customs at the Worli Crematorium on Tuesday. 54-year-old Cyrus Mistry was killed in a road accident in Maharashtra's Palghar district on Sunday afternoon. The body of Cyrus Mistry, decorated with white flowers, was taken from JJ Hospital to Worli Crematorium this morning. Here his friends, relatives and well-wishers paid their last respects. Members of the Parsi community, business leaders and politicians attended the cremation.

All the celebrities of the industry attended the funeral

Simon Tata, stepmother of senior industrialist Ratan Tata, also attended Cyrus Mistry's funeral. Cyrus Mistry's elder brother Shapoor Mistry, father-in-law and senior advocate Iqbal Chagla, industrialist Anil Ambani, HDFC Chairman Deepak Parekh, Ajit Gulabchand and NCP MPs Supriya Sule and Milind Deora also reached the crematorium to bid him a final farewell.


Died in a road accident on sunday

Cyrus Mistry was returning to Mumbai from Udvada in South Gujarat on Sunday. The Mercedes car in which Cyrus Mistry was returning to Mumbai collided with a divider on a bridge on the Surya river in Palghar district on Sunday afternoon, killing Cyrus Mistry and Jehangir Pandole on the spot. Gynecologist Anahita Pandole (55) and her husband Darius Pandole (60) who were driving the car were injured in the accident, both of whom are undergoing treatment.


Cyrus Pallonji Mistry was born on 4 July 1968. He was the younger son of Pallonji Mistry, the head of Shapoorji Pallonji Group. Cyrus did her early schooling from the Cathedral and John Connon School in Mumbai. After this he went to London to study civil engineering. He also had a Master's degree in Management from the London Business School. Cyrus joined his family business in 1991.


Cyrus Mistry's friend Jehangir Pandole will be given last farewell today



The last rites of former national squash champion Jehangir Dinshaw Pandole, who were killed along with Shapoorji Pallonji Group heir Cyrus P. Mistry in a car accident in Palghar, will be performed on Tuesday evening. This information was given by the family. The 49-year-old's family includes Kamal D. Pandole, his brother Darius and sister-in-law Dr. Anahita Pandole, Farooq and Simone Pandole and Yohan, Riyan, Leleh and Jeh.

Pandole's last rites will be performed as per Parsi traditions at 5 pm on Tuesday at Hodiwala Bungi in Dungarwadi, South Mumbai. A few hours before this, his friend Mistry will be cremated at the Worli crematorium. Both Darius and Jehangir were squash champions in their youth and later became a professional player, representing India in the 1991 Asian Junior Squash Championship tournament.





According to a family friend, the Pandole family was also the former owner of the beverages and foods major 'Dukes', which produced popular drinks such as 'Mongola'. An MBA from London Business School, Jehangir previously worked as a director with the Netherlands-based KPMG, London, while Darius handled family businesses in Mumbai. He was sitting in the back seat of the ill-fated Mercedes-Benz SUV, which collided with a road-divider on the Ahmedabad-Mumbai national highway on the afternoon of September 4.


Jahangir and Darius were returning from Udvada after performing some religious rituals in the memory of their father Dinsha Pandole, who died last week. Cyrus Mistry was also sitting with him in the Mercedes. Earlier, Mistry's father Pallonji S. Mistry died on 28 June in Mumbai at the age of 93.

Darius and Mistry were classmates at the famous Cathedral & John Connon School in South Mumbai, which was the alma mater of many celebrities. Darius and his wife Dr. Anahita, who were seriously injured in the road accident, were shifted to Mumbai early Monday and treated by Sir H.N. Reliance Foundation is running in the hospital.
